How to ba a Shotcrete Nozzleman?

1.Importance of certified Nozzleman

Through the process of applying shotcrete, nozzlemen can greatly affect the ultimate performance of the material, so the qualification of these craftsmen has been identified as a necessary link to constructing quality projects, facilitating the resolution of disputes, and minimizing failures, repairs, and construction costs.

2.American Concrete Institute (ACI) Shotcrete Nozzleman Certification program

Three years after its inception, the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Shotcrete Nozzleman Certification program is ready for full industry recognition and support. The program was christened at the 2001 World of Concrete exposition in Las Vegas, when the American Shotcrete Association (ASA) sponsored the first ACI Shotcrete Nozzleman exam session (Shotcrete, V. 3, No. 2, Spring 2001, pp. 31-33; Concrete International, V. 23, No. 5, May 2001, p. 15).
Shotcrete Nozzleman for work in Canada (ACI Certified)The program consists of two segments, covering wet- and dry-mix processes separately, and is the result of 7 years of cooperative development within the ACI Certification committees to establish a consistent program to credential nozzlemen who have demonstrated both the knowledge and skills necessary to perform shotcreting operations at a specified minimum acceptable level. Over 300 certifications have been issued to individuals residing in Australia, Canada (seven provinces), and the U.S. (31 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico); the program is available in English, Spanish, and French.

3. Qualification and skill:
To attain ACI Certification as a Shotcrete Nozzleman, participants are required to possess 500 hours of verifiable work experience on a shotcrete crew, pass a written examination, and pass a performance examination during which they shoot standardized test panels that are later cored and evaluated—successful application of shotcrete to a vertically oriented test panel is mandatory for certification, and an option is available to shoot an overhead panel for an additional “rider” qualification.
